It’s started to rain again. And I don’t have any soups in the fridge. I might die.
It wasn’t supposed to start raining until tomorrow, so I planned to make a batch of my favorite chicken turmeric curry soup tomorrow night and hunker down with some documentaries. But the rain came early. And I’m left with more broccoli. I actually really enjoyed most of my food today. I, unintentionally, had salmon twice. Whatever, it’s my new obsession. And it’s on sale at my Whole Foods. Sue me.
I have to admit, today was my first recipe fail. Well, my first fail this month. Trust me, I’ve failed A LOT in the kitchen. I once fell asleep while roasting sweet potatoes. I woke up to a weird smell and some pebbles in my oven. Trying to figure that out before coffee was one of the biggest struggles of my adult life. Today’s fail wasn’t that bad. I mean, I ate it. But that’s not saying much because I used to dip cheetos in mustard. I know, I’m disgusting.
I’m still on a Mexican food kick so I thought I’d try to make a taco salad. Well, first of all, I wouldn’t recommend kale in a taco salad. But that’s what I had. Also wouldn’t recommend lime vinaigrette. Good idea in theory, not so much in execution. Or at least not in my execution. To top it off, I confused serrano and shishito peppers at the store. I mindlessly bit into one while I was cooking and I swear I almost died. It’s actually surprising I tasted the salad at all after that. Overall, the salad was a fail. I’ll try again tomorrow. In the meantime, I need to figure out what to do with a pound of serrano peppers.
Meal 1: eggs benedict with purple sweet potato, smoked salmon (this one is compliant), poached eggs, and a side of sautéed greens
Meal 2: taco salad with kale, lime vinaigrette, ground chicken, serrano peppers (lol), tomatoes, avocado, and red onion. side of bone broth veggies to get the taste out of my mouth
Meal 3: salmon with steamed broccoli and roasted sage butternut squash
