Have you ever had those days where you actually laugh out loud because nothing, I mean nothing, is going your way? That was my day.
It began at 3:30am when I woke up STARVING. This is weird for me. The last time I woke up in the middle of the night with extreme hunger was in college, right after I started working out and my body had no idea what was happening. But I work out all the time now and my body has adjusted. That being said, yesterday was exceptionally traumatizing at the gym. After a brutal spin class, some booty work, and a yoga class, my body hated me. And so did everyone around me. I forgot deodorant.
So anyways, wide awake and hungry at 3:30am is the absolute worst. That’s not true. Wide awake, hungry, and cold at 3:30 in the morning is worse. God bless my heated blanket. I stumbled my way to the fridge and grabbed he first thing I could find. It was my leftover bone broth veggies. Interesting choice for a nighttime snack but whatever. That’s paleo life for ya. I was awake until nearly 6am watching cat videos on YouTube because it was way too early for anything of substance and half my subscriptions were news related. Trust me, the last place you ever want to see Donald Trump’s face (besides always), is in your bed at 3:30 in the morning.
By the time I woke up for real, it was rainy, I was sore from the gym, and I didn’t want to do anything. Not even make coffee. I apparently decided it was a good idea to skip the caffeine today altogether, hoping I’d fall asleep easier tonight. Under no circumstances should I be allowed to make decisions before I’ve had coffee. Especially if that decision is about whether or not to have coffee.
Other than the coffee mishap, I had a pretty delicious day of eating. That salad is a personal highlight of 2017. I can’t imagine much good will come out of this year, but at least I had a bomb-ass salad.
Meal 1: summer squash basil frittata, roasted carrots, and big bowl of zucchini soup.
Meal 2: the salad of all salads: kale, chicken, avocado, mushrooms, red onion, sweet potato, and homemade balsalmic dressing.
Meal 3: piri-piri salmon with cauliflower mash, roasted brussel sprouts, and a coddled egg (not pictured).
LOOKING FORWARD TO ALL THE COFFEE TOMORROW.
