A few months back, I decided to go on a little caffeine detox. Two weeks with no caffeine at all. It was probably the worst two weeks of my life. Seriously. Ask anyone that had to work with me during that time. My colleagues were all but hooking me up to a coffee IV. They actually celebrated when the two weeks were up. Well, yesterday I skipped my coffee.
I’m glad to say I made it, barely. The headache I had last night made those two weeks over the summer seem like cake. My theory about falling asleep easily without the caffeine turned out to be a complete fail. In addition to the pounding headache, I got a call at 11:30pm from my gay bestie. He rarely calls me and because I’m a good friend, I answered. Immediate regret. As much as I love his drunk dials, it was not the night for it.
The point of this story is simple. Don’t stop drinking coffee while you’re doing the Whole30. You’ll probably die.
Besides my near death experience, the last 24 hours have been pretty nice. I can feel my energy levels picking up and my eating schedule has normalized since that weird 3:30am starvation wake up call. Lots of green veggies today, as it should be 😉
First time cooking chicken thighs tonight and they were so good! Finally tried the Red Rocks Hickory Smoke Seasoning from Savory Spice and it was perfect. Looking forward to using my spice blends more and more!
Meal 1: summer squash basil frittata, sautéed green beans, and half a hannah sweet potato
Meal 2: spaghetti squash, turkey zucchini meatballs, and roasted brussel sprouts
Meal 3: chicken thighs with sautéed kale and purple sweet potato mash
Also had a small salad in the early evening as a “snack”. Not pictured because plain ass spinach isn’t very photogenic.
